The Mas la Plana is graceful and balanced despite its firm and dominant tannin profile. Bright crunchy acidity ensures a wine that will develop in the cellar for years to come. This polished red displays hints of its Mediterranean heritage with herbaceous bramble while holding true to brooding currant and loamy earth, reminiscent of old-world Cabernet Sauvignon.

95 Points by Wine Enthusiast

Deep garnet in the glass, this wine offers a bouquet of blackberry, crème brûlée and anisette. It is bright on entry, with flavors of black plum, roasted red pepper, tobacco and baking spice. Velvet tannins evaporate into a long finish. Mike DeSimone

94 Points by Decanter

From a dry vintage, with Cabernet Sauvignon vines planted on deep alluvial soils, winemaker Miguel Torres describes this as: 'A very classic vintage of Mas La Plana.' Black fruit aromas – blackberry, blackcurrant – some blackcurrant leaf, coffee and dark chocolate hints. Complex, layered palate, with mouth-filling black fruit, plum, liquorice, very elegant tannins and well integrated oak (18 months in French oak, 85% new). Very smooth and balanced, showing considerable freshness and finesse.

93 Points by James Suckling

Lots of plum and sweet-berry aromas and flavors. Deep and rich with layers of fruit and round, integrated tannins. Love the finish. Fruity and layered with beautiful fruit and length. Needs time to come around.
